Rob Kerkovich joins Scott Bakula in CBS' new fall series 'NCIS: New Orleans'

NCIS spinoff NCIS: New Orleans added Rob Kerkovich as a new regular in the upcoming series with Scott Bakula.

The new regular cast member was announced at the Television Critics Association summer press tour by series showrunner Gary Glasberg, who also revealed that there are planned crossover episodes where Bakula and NCIS star Mark Harmon will team up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kerkovich, who is on Chasing Life, will play Sebastian, who is a forensic scientist that works under Jefferson Parish Medical Examiner Dr. Wade, played by CCH Pounder.

Sebastian is described as a character who has worked for Homeland Security before, but is awkward and only sees New Orleans as home and looked for any opportunity to stay. He is said to be awkward around dead bodies though, which naturally isn't a great fit working at the medical examiner's office, where he eventually settled.

Glasberg also said at the press conference that there will be at least one New Orleans episode with Harmon already in the works, plus further crossover episodes bringing in other members of the cast. "That's the fun we have here with the interaction."

Bakula also spoke and acknowledged the show has "big shoes to follow." He added, "The hope is that we can get an audience to invest with us."

The new procedural series is set to debut in the fall on Tuesday, Sept. 23 after NCIS, which the network is hoping will provide a strong lead-in program.
