Steve Novak traded to Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz was looking for a player who could stretch the floor and make 3-pointers. The Toronto Raptors were looking for some salary cap relief after agreeing to a big deal with Kyle Lowry. This combination led to the two teams agreeing to a trade.
The biggest name involved in the trade is sharpshooter Steve Novak, who will go from the Raptors to the Jazz. The Raptors will also be giving the Jazz a future second round pick.
In return, Utah is sending guard Diante Garrett to Toronto. He has a $915,000 non-guaranteed deal for next season.
Novak has two years and $7.2 million left on his current contract.
The news of the trade was first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports .
Novak’s most proficient seasons came in his two years with the New York Knicks. In 2012, he averaged a career-best 8.8 points per contest and connected on 47 percent of his 3-point attempts. The following year, he poured in 6.6 points per game. He played in 81 games, logging a career-high 20.3 minutes per night, according to basketball-reference.com .
After these two seasons in New York, Novak spent the 2014 season with the Raptors. He appeared in 54 games, making one start and accumulating 3.3 points per game.
The Jazz hope the 31-year-old forward will provide a spark off the bench. He is likely to come in for Derrick Favors and Enes Kanter, report Tony Jones and Brennan Smith of The Salt Lake Tribune.
Last year, the Raptors won the Atlantic Division and claimed the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48-34. The Jazz, at 25-57, posted the worst record in the Western Conference.
