Sandra Bullock might not look like it, but she turned 50 today!
For the past 20 years, she has been charming her way into everyone’s hearts with her talent and poise. She has played a wide variety of roles, from quirky and funny, to serious and tough. Her first film was Hangmen, but she didn’t start her rise to fame until the 1990s with her roles in movies such as Speed, While You Were Sleeping, and The Net.
She has come a long way from then. She was the 14th richest woman in the entertainment industry in 2007, and by 2012, Guinness World Records had listed her as the highest-paid actress. In 2010, she won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in the film The Blind Side. She was also nominated for her role in Gravity, which has been her most successful film.
To celebrate and to honor Bullock’s milestone, we are counting down her top 10 movies, which wasn’t all that easy, since she has been part of so many great productions.

As far as her lesser-known movies go, Love Potion No. 9 is one of Bullock’s most endearing roles. She plays Diane, a geeky biologist with a neglected physical appearance. She and her colleague create a love potion to help them attract dates. The movie is charming and Bullock totally plays the role well. Besides, we got a look at what Tate Donovan was doing before he was attending Rachel’s fake parties as Joshua in Friends.

However, the movie structure gave way for viewers to remain in suspense and trying to figure out what happened. In the end, it reminded us that even in the depths of tragedy there is room for a miracle.

While You Were Sleeping is such a feel-good romantic comedy that it might make you forgive yourself for watching bad ones like Gigli. It’s about Lucy, who is watching over a comatose patient whose parents believe is engaged to her. She ends up falling in love with her brother and makes a sweet and endearing story.

Set in the year 2032, Demolition Man stars Sandra Bullock as an adventurous police officer. It’s an enjoyable film that even showed her working with Benjamin Bratt before they were in Miss Congeniality together.

One of the funniest Sandra Bullock movies is Miss Congeniality. In this film we get to see Bullock as a tomboy and as a beauty queen. Chandler summarized it best, “She’s an FBI agent, posing as a beauty contestant.” Miss Gracie Hart showed all women that it’s okay to be both tough and graceful. And she made us all want world peace.

Bullock had most of the on-screen time in Gravity, and it is her most successful movie, both because it did extremely well in the box office and because it showcased her talent in a new light.
