Trailer for Ridley Scott's 'Exodus: Gods and Kings' with Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton premieres online

Twentieth Century Fox has released the first trailer for the upcoming Bible epic Exodus: Gods and Kings, directed by Ridley Scott and featuring Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton (The Great Gatsby, 2011’s The Thing) as Rhamses.

According to /Film, Exodus will give a new perspective on the biblical story of Moses, from his near death during infancy, his adoption into the Egyptian royal family, his defying of the Egyptian Pharaoh over the treatment of the slaves, his freeing of the Hebrews, and his parting the Red Sea. The film will also focus on the conflict between Bale’s Moses and his adopted brother Rhamses, played by Edgerton.

From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, Prometheus) comes the epic adventure Exodus: Gods and Kings, the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

As noted to the Daily Mail, Sigourney Weaver will play Queen Tuya, Ramses' and Moses’ mother, and the film will also feature performances from Ben Mendelsohn, Ben Kingsley and Aaron Paul also star.

Exodus: Gods and Kings is slated to released in the United States on December 12th, 2014. And, as Variety notes, Scott and Chernin have also announced plans to develop a film based on the biblical character King David that will also be released by Twentienth Century Fox.
