Whitney Houston biopic starring Yaya Dacosta to feature vocals from Deborah Cox (Report)

Whitney Houston’s music will be featured in the upcoming Lifetime biopic directed by Angela Bassett and starring Yaya DaCosta, however, her vocals will not be featured in the Lifetime original television movie.

It won’t feature former America’s Next Top Model star DaCosta’s vocals either, instead Deborah Cox will likely provide the vocals for the film.

A source told E! News’ Marc Malkin, "music rights and clearances are still being worked out,” but it’s almost a done deal.

Just a few days ago, the first image of DaCosta as Houston was released, which re-created Houston’s 1987 album cover.

The film will follow the well documented marriage Houston had with her husband, Bobby Brown. "I have such regard for both Whitney's and Bobby's amazing talents and accomplishments; and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” Bassett said in a statement following the announcement of her involvement.
