Yasiel Puig suffers hand injury

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig, one of the most electrifying players in baseball, may be sidelined with a hand injury.
On Saturday, he was taken out of Los Angeles’ game against the Saint Louis Cardinals in the eighth inning. Several innings before he was replaced, he was hit by a pitch on his hand.
"As the game went on, he got tight," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said, according to MLB.com . "We knew he wasn't going to hit an inning before, but we knew he could play defense."
Puig’s hand did swell up, but X-rays came back negative. He is listed as day-to-day.
The 23-year-old is in his second season in the Major Leagues. This season, he is batting .309 with 12 home runs, 52 RBI and a .394 on-base percentage in 91 games. Last year, he appeared in 102 games, posting a .319 batting average, 19 homers and 42 RBI, reports baseball-reference.com .
The Cardinals also lost an All-Star outfielder as Matt Holliday left the game in the fifth. He got injured trying to get back to second on a pick-off attempt in the first.
Saint Louis went on to win the game 4-2.
