BET’s president of music programming and specials, Stephen G. Hill, has issued an apology for a joke featured on 106 & Park, making fun of Jay Z and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy’s hair.
The joke was delivered by Chris Brown’s girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, who said during the show’s “Top Six Things Blue Ivy Thought At The VMAS” skit, “I really did wake up like this, because my parents never comb my hair.”
As expected from Beyonce fans, who call themselves the “Beyhive,” Tran got a ton of backlash.
Tran blamed it on the writers, tweeting “Now y'all know I LOVE me some Beyoncé and Blue Ivy! I didn't write this script y'all lol.”

Hill is now offering up his apology for his part in the joke, also on Twitter. He apologized for putting Tran in “that position” and noted their decision to make the joke was “bad judgment.”
He called it a “stupid, unthoughtful joke,” adding, ‘We apologize publically to the child’s parents (and have done so privately) and we have taken punitive actions with those responsible.”
