Brett Favre going into Packers Hall of Fame

Brett Favre is going back to Green Bay. The former Green Bay Packers quarterback will be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame and his number four will be retired.

Favre will be inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame next summer. His number will be retired sometime after this season. It is unknown when the number will be retired and if it will be retired next year when Favre is inducted, according to USA Today. Packers president Mark Murphy has said that he hoped that Favre would go into the Packers Hall of Fame and his number retired before Favre is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.

Favre is excited about returning to Green Bay.

"I'm pleased to announce that I will be returning to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 2015 for induction into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame and retirement of my jersey," Favre said in a statement on his website. "It was a tremendous honor to play 16 years for the Green Bay Packers. Now to have my name placed among others such as Starr, Hornung, Kramer, Taylor, Lambeau, Nitschke, Lombardi, Davis, White and Hutson is a special honor that I share with all of my teammates and coaches, and that would not have been possible but for the foresight of Ron Wolf, the greatest GM in the history of the NFL. I'm truly looking forward to celebrating and sharing this special moment with all of the great fans of the Green Bay Packers."

A trade with the Atlanta Falcons in February 1992 sent Favre to the Packers. With the Packers Favre went to two Super Bowls, winning one, and won three NFL MVP awards, according to ESPN. In March 2008 he announced his retirement, but that summer he decided that he still wanted to play. The Packers traded him to the New York Jets. After one season with the Jets he retired again, then played two season with the Minnesota Vikings before retiring for good.

The Packers will officially announce Favre’s induction into the team Hall of Fame and his number being retired on Monday.
