Broncos lose Jordan Norwood with torn ACL

Denver Broncos wide receiver Jordan Norwood tore his ACL in his left leg during practice on Wednesday. He will be out for the upcoming season.

According to the Denver Post, Norwood was trying to catch a pass from Peyton Manning during an 11-on-11 drill with the Houston Texans and Texans cornerback Brandon Harris broke up the play. When Harris broke the play up Norwood fell and was carted off the field. He had an MRI and it confirmed that he had a torn ACL. After the MRI Norwood was using crutches and had a brace on his left knee.

Norwood played for the Cleveland Browns before going to the Broncos. He played in 16 games with the Browns in 2011 and 2012 before a knee injury ended his 2012 season. While with the Browns Norwood had 36 receptions for 405 yards and a touchdown. Last year he didn’t play in the NFL. In two preseason games with the Broncos he had four receptions for 54 yards and two punt returns for 37 yards, according to NBC Sports.

Norwood is just the latest Broncos player to suffer an injury. He joins Emmanuel Sanders, Kayvon Webster, Virgil Green, Gerell Robinson, and Jamar Chaney on the list of injured players, ESPN notes. There is some good news for the Broncos though. Running back Montee Ball returned to practice on Tuesday. He also practiced on Wednesday.
