Buffalo Bills sign QB Kyle Orton (Report)

August 30 19:06 2014

The Buffalo Bills have signed quarterback Kyle Orton to a two-year deal. The second year is a player option.

Orton was released by the Dallas Cowboys after he did not show up for the team’s mandatory minicamp earlier this summer.

Orton had been contemplating retirement when the Cowboys released him, but now it looks as though he did not feel they were the right fit for him.

According to ESPN, the Bills have been searching for a back up quarterback for EJ Manuel. The Bills had signed Jordan Palmer, but then quickly released him.

The team has also tried to use Thad Lewis and Jeff Tuel as the back up quarterback

Orton has played in the NFL for 9 years and has started for the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs, in addition to the Cowboys, NFL.com reports.

He was a fourth round draft pick by the Bears in the 2005 NFL draft.

Orton has thrown for 15,019 yards, 83 touchdowns and 59 interceptions in his career.
