Chris Pratt went from rags to 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Chris Pratt wasn’t always in the Hollywood scene. The Guardians of the Galaxy star dropped out of college, lived in a tent, and became the star of the box office hit.

The 35-year-old was raised in small town Lake Stevens, Washington. After spending a semester in college, Pratt dropped out and made his money another way, including stripping, reported Yahoo News.

After living homeless for a while, and enjoying it, things took a turn for Pratt. He was cast in a short horror film by Rae Dawn Chong, the star in Commando, after serving her at a restaurant where he worked as a waiter.

From then, the doors opened for Pratt.

He became a regular on the teen soap opera Everwood. Pratt’s biggest TV role was his role on Parks and Recreations where he played Andy Dwyer, the deadbeat boyfriend of co-star Rashida Jones.

According to The Independent, Pratt never imagined he would be trimmed and auditioning for the role of Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy . Originally, acting was a way for Pratt to pay the bills.

“Originally the dream was to pay my bills doing nothing other than acting. I got there, but the dream is constantly evolving,” Pratt said.

Guardians of the Galaxy grossed over $37.8 million on Friday alone. The predicted gross income of $90 million was met by the end of the weekend.

The film’s sequel will be released in 2017.
