Jackie Chan speaks out on son Jaycee's drug arrest

Action star Jackie Chan has expressed his distress over his son’s drug related arrest in Beijing.

According to Detroit Free Press, Jaycee Chan was arrested last week along with Kai Ko, a Taiwanese movie star. The two were caught in one of China’s biggest drug crackdowns in twenty years.

“Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I’m very ashamed. As a father, I’m heartbroken,” said Jackie Chan on his blog.

Jaycee Chan and Kai Ko were arrested for using marijuana and possessing it.

Actor Jackie Chan was named as an ambassador to Beijing’s anti drug campaign in 2009. Ko was also an ambassador and even did a PSA saying he did not do drugs.

“I hope all young people will learn a lesson from Jaycee and stay far from the harm of drugs,” Chan wrote on his blog. “I say to Jaycee that you have to accept the consequences when you do something wrong. As your father, I’m going to face the road together with you.”

Chinese police have reportedly arrested over 7,800 people in the drug crackdown that President Xi Jinping began earlier in the summer.
