Jadeveon Clowney cleared to play in preseason game

Jadeveon Clowney was listed as a starter on the Houston Texans unofficial depth chart prior to their game against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday.

According to the Houston Texans, Clowney left practice last Saturday early after getting hurt during a play. He has not practiced this week.

In June, Clowney underwent sports hernia surgery and was held out of the team’s mandatory minicamp, as we previously reported.

When asked what he was feeling prior to Saturday’s game Clowney said he was excited.

“It’s something I’ve been dreaming about, something I’ve been waiting for for a long time. Now it’s coming up fast and I’m just looking forward to it.”

When asked if he would start, Clowney told CSN Houston that he would be.

When head coach Bill O’Brien heard this, he responded by saying that was news to him.

While in college at University of South Carolina, Clowney had 130 total tackles, 24.0 sacks and 47.0 tackles for loss, according to the Texans.

His best college season was in 2012 when he set the school records for sacks, 13, tackles for loss, 23.0, and sacks in one game, 4.5.
