Larry David will make Broadway debut with his first play 'Fish in the Dark'

Larry David, the co-creator of Seinfeld and star of HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm, will be making his debut on Broadway with Fish in the Dark, his first play. There was some questions over whether or not Jerry Seinfeld would be involved in some way, but it appears that he will not.

The news about the play was first reported by ShowBiz411, which had spoken to David back in January about the play. At that time, David did say that he spoke to Seinfeld about it. However, David told The New York Times this week that Seinfeld is not involved in any capacity.

The play was originally just called Shiva, a reference to the Jewish practice of “sitting shiva” after the death of a family member. However, the title has since been changed to Fish in the Dark and prolific producer Scott Rudin has convinced David to star in the play.

Anna D. Shapiro (August: Osage County) will direct. While the specific Shubert theater the play will be produced at has yet to be announced, the play will open on March 5.

“I haven’t been in a play since the eighth grade, when I did Charley’s Aunt,” David told the Times. “I seem to remember wearing a dress. That’s it. And I’m not even really an actor. But I’m still sleeping at night, and I hope that continues.”
