Latest 'Homeland' trailer focuses on emotional drama, not action

Showtime dropped another trailer for the upcoming fourth season of their hit series Homeland on Monday, this time showing the main characters in less action-packed scenes.

The trailer instead explores the emotional state of the various returning and new characters with Claire Danes' Carrie Mathison abandoning her young child to return to the field in Pakistan where someone asks in a voiceover about whether or not having a kill list bothers her, to which she replies, "it's just a job."

The trailer also features Saul (Mandy Patinkin) in another voiceover noting, "It hasn't been a 14-year war we've been waging, but a one-year war, waged 14 times."

While the trailer is more character focused, that doesn't mean there isn't some action in it, with CIA station chief in Pakistan, played by Corey Stoll, appearing to be trying to calm a crowd down, while a mob surrounds and breaks into a car with Carrie inside.

Last week, Showtime announced the fourth season would return with a two hour premiere on Oct. 5. The premiere is not extra-long, but rather is just the first two episodes back-to-back.

"There is such strong anticipation for the start of season four that we wanted to give Homeland fans an extra generous helping of Carrie and company," Gary Levine, Showtime executive vice president of original programming, explained.

Though Homeland struggled to interest fans in season three, do the new trailers restore some confidence?
