Megan Fox of 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' talks red carpet premieres and fame

Megan Fox has opened up about life as a woman in Hollywood.

In a new interview with NY Daily News, Fox said that—unlike many A-List celebrities—she would prefer to skip out on photo ops and red carpet events. “It’s never something that I really enjoyed,” she remarked. “So I’ve always tried to stay away from it as much as possible.”

Fox dealt with initial stardom after being named Hollywood’s newest ‘It’ girl in 2007 with the premiere of the first Transformers flick by keeping harmful criticism out of her life. Fox explained that it wouldn’t be worthwhile to expose herself to negativity found online, so she avoided keeping tabs on the gossip that surrounded her after being thrust into the spotlight. “It’s so damaging to the psyche and to your well-being. I was never that aware of the Hollywood hierarchy.”

Fox maintained that the film industry could be a hard place in which to thrive if you are not comfortable with yourself. “If you have an insecurity issue or if you seek validation through the opinions of others, this industry is not for you,” she said. She asserted that actors and actresses need particularly thick skin to survive.

Things aren’t looking too bright for fans hoping to see Fox in many new films; the actress and mother of two would much rather focus on her family. Fox plans to do “one or two projects a year” and spend most of her time enjoying motherhood.

Fox is currently promoting her new film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which hits theaters on Friday, August 8.
