Mother booted from restaurant for changing infant’s diaper sparks debate

A mother of three was booted from a Texas pizzeria last week after she changed her child’s diaper and the choices by both parties has sparked a debate.

According to CNN, Miranda Sowers said she tried to do the obvious and change her daughter’s diaper in the restroom, at a changing table, but the restaurant did not have changing stations.

“I looked around saw there was absolutely nowhere to lay a baby other than the floor, so walked back out and thought I have to figure something else out,” Sowers said.

She then decided instead of bringing her other two children with her out to the car, she would change her baby in the dining area at the table.

Staff at Brother’s Pizza Express, however, were not happy with her decision and asked her to leave. Employees told KHOU that patrons in the restaurant began to complain about the smell.

“How would you feel?” asked Bessa Lala, whose family owns the pizzeria. “You're sitting there eating. I don't want to lose all these other customers because they see a dirty diaper.”

After the story broke, the Pizzeria’s Facebook page was flooded with some supporting Sowers decision to change her child there and others supporting the restaurant’s decision to ask her to leave.

Sowers filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and said that she wanted to draw attention to the lack of changing tables at the establishment.

So, did Sowers make the right call or did the restaurant make the right call?
