Nina Dobrev explains she can relate to her character in 'Let's Be Cops' with her own dating experience

The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev recently revealed that she oddly relates to her character, Josie, in 20th Century Fox’s Let’s Be Cops.

As we previously reported, Let’s be Cops, starring Jake Johnson (New Girl), Damon Wayans Jr. (The Other Guys), Rob Riggle (21 Jump Street), James D’Arcy (Mossi), and Dobrev, is a comedic action film about two men who dress up as for a costume party and convince everyone they are heroes. With the recent premiere for the movie at Hollywood’s ArcLight theater, the Perks of Being a Wallflower actress admitted she can relate a personal experience with what her character deals with in the movie.

“I went on a date once with a police officer, unbeknownst to me," Dobrev told E! News. "I thought he was a regular guy. And when I found out that he was a police officer...I wasn't so into it.”

The Let's Be Cops actress added that him being a cop made her incredibly nervous, claiming she felt as though "he was gonna arrest me every five seconds, so it obviously didn't go anywhere after that...Even when I'm not doing something wrong, when there's a police officer [around], I suddenly feel guilty for nothing."

The CW’s The Vampire Diaries, starring Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder, Paul Wesley, Kat Graham, Candace Accola, and Steven R. McQueen, will return with it’s sixth season on Oct. 2, 2014.
