Ohio State QB Braxton Miller re-injures throwing shoulder in practice

The Ohio State University got startling news after practice yesterday when they found out that their star quarterback Braxton Miller injured his right throwing shoulder.

According to The Columbus Dispatch, Miller got injured not by being hit by a defensive player, but instead by throwing a routine pass.

Miller had surgery on the shoulder in February and was held out of spring practice and summer team drills, according to ESPN.

This injury may cause Miller to miss time this season, with some sources close to the Buckeyes saying he may need to have surgery again.

Redshirt freshman JT Barrett would most likely start the Buckeyes first game on Aug. 30 against Navy. He would be backed up by Cardale Jones. Barrett has never thrown a pass in a college game, while Jones has only thrown two passes in his career.

Offensive coordinator Tom Herman told reporters prior to Miller’s injury that last year they had the best back-up quarterback in the country, but he is not worried about the lack of experience with the other two quarterbacks.

“I’m not worried. Both those guys are (capable enough) to where you can win games with them right now.”

Miller has won the past two Big Ten MVP awards, even though he has missed time each of his first three seasons.

Last season, Miller threw for just over 2000 yards and had 24 passing TD’s. He also rushed for 1068 yards and had 12 rushing touchdowns.
