Ridley Scott says 'Blade Runner' and 'Prometheus' sequels are written

Ridley Scott, the director behind the upcoming Exodus: Gods and Kings, said this week that his planned sequels to Blade Runner and Prometheus are already written. The problem is that he just has to figure out in what order to make them.

First up for the prolific filmmaker is The Martian though, a new sci-fi project with Matt Damon. The actor will play an astronaut marooned on Mars and filming is expected to take place this fall. It was written by Simon Kinberg and is scheduled for release on Nov. 25, 2016.

In a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Scott, 76, revealed that Blade Runner 2 would be next. He said that the project is written and that Harrison Ford would be involved. Back in May 2014, Alcon Entertainment actually made a bizarre public move by calling for Ford to make the movie.

“It’s written and it’s damn good,” Scott told EW. “Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years — despite the accident.” That was likely a reference to Ford’s Star Wars: Episode VII injury. “So yes, that will happen.”

Ford’s team has not confirmed if he will take part in the film or not.

Scott said that Blade Runner 2 would likely come after Martian. However, he also has that Prometheus sequel on the docket, too.

“That’s the problem,” Scott told EW. “I’ve got a lot of ducks in a row. But they’re all written.”

Scott’s Exodus opens on Dec. 12 and stars Christian Bale as Moses. The director is best known for the horror classic Alien and the original Blade Runner, which was based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.
