WE tv greenlights 'Sex Box,' in which couples have sex in a box

WE tv is getting serious about sex...in a box. The cable network has officially greenlit a U.S. edition of Sex Box, a reality series in which couples undergo therapy with a panel of experts before retiring to an enclosed box to have sex before cameras and a studio audience.

The network actually ordered a pilot of the show back in March. Obviously, the network brass liked the pilot and put in a nine-episode order on Thursday. The show will debut early next year.

Sex Box is one of the most unique and compelling show concepts we’ve ever seen, and we can’t wait to bring it to WE tv,” WE tv president Marc Juris said in a statement. “Our featured couples will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience, while our viewers will get the kind of bold, break-through-the-clutter programming they increasingly associate with WE tv.”

The panel of experts will include Beverly Hills relationship psychotherapist Dr. Fran Walsh and clinical therapist Dr. Chris Donaghue, PhD. Comedian Danielle Stewart of #TheDaniStew Experience will be there to add some lighthearted humor to the show.

In each episode, the panelists will talk about what’s going on in the sex box, sort of like how sportscasters call games. Then, they will talk with the couples to hash out their problems.

Sex Box is a Relativity Television production.
