Blumhouse Productions releases multi-platform branch BH-Tilt, will release Joe Carnahan's 'Stretch' on VOD in October

Jason Blum, the producer best known for bringing horror series like Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, and soon-to-be-series Sinister and Oclus, just to name a few, is bringing his influence to a whole other platform, starting next month.

Deadline writes about the launch of BH Tilt—a new label generating movies from Blum and other filmmakers/producers to a multi-platform release. Starting this new label with be The Creep Trilogy, from Radius-TWC, Mockingbird, Mercy, Not Safe for Work and Joe Carnahan's (The Grey) Stretch, coming from Universal Studios Home Entertainment next month thanks to this new digital investment.

The most interesting inclusion here comes from Carahan's movie, which stars Patrick Wilson, Jessica Alba, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Ray Liotta, Brooklyn Decker, David Hasselhoff and James Badge Dale and set to be released by Universal Studios this March. With little word or publicity released leading up to its impending release, it was announced a mere two months before that the studio dropped the movie off their scheduling, believing that the hefty marketing on the film would not be profitable/worth the investment.

Talking to Collider in July about the movie, Carnahan revealed that he was able to retool the movie, and was going to be premiering at an undisclosed film festival this fall. With this news—which, it should be noted, means that the movie will not have an official theatrical release—it seems unlikely that those festival plans will come to fruition. But it is not out of the question either.

Another interesting addition here is The Town That Dreaded Sundown, a remake that serves as the first movie released from Orion since 1998, according to The Playlist.

With a ten-year deal with Universal Studios, this marks an interesting effort for Blum, who has made a living so far by mostly making reasonably low-budgeted horror and action movies. The exact days that these movies will be released are unclear at the moment, but it should give some moviegoers excitement to note that some highly buzzed movies will be coming to them very, very soon.
