Oprah kicks off her Life You Want Tour

Media mogul Oprah Winfrey kicked off her inspirational Life You Want Tour in Auburn Hills, Friday.

Winfrey hosted the first spot on her tour at The Palace of Auburn Hills, in Auburn Hills, a suburb just outside of Detroit, Michigan. Thousands of fans showed up to hear Winfrey tell her story of success. From her humble roots growing up in Mississippi to where she is now, as a household name with her own television network the Daily Tribune reports.

Winfrey’s goal of the workshop is to give her audience the hope that they are living with purpose once they leave.

In addition to the first stop in Autumn Hills, Winfrey will also be speaking in Atlanta, Houston, Miami, Newark, San Jose, and Washington.

Winfrey isn’t the only inspirational figure on the tour. She is joined by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love, pastor Rob Bell, Fix My Life star Iyanla Vanzant and, in some cities, the famed Deepak Chopra will be speaking. The talks take place on the weekend with Winfrey telling her story on Friday nights, and Saturdays are reserved for activities and guest speakers.

Winfrey has been itching to do a tour since 2013, since she participated in a speaking tour in Canada. The Life You Want Tour is giving her the opportunity to connect with her fans in a way that she hasn’t been able to since her talk show ended in 2011.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Winfrey spoke about the tour and said, “It's about living the life you want, because a great percentage of the population is living a life that their mother wanted, that their husband wanted, that they thought or heard they wanted.”
