Travis Barker talks his early drummer days (Exclusive)

A special performance from Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker was a last minute surprise to viewers on Wednesday’s season finale of America’s Got Talent.

The famous drummer found out that he was performing with contestants AcroArmy just 24 hours before he played alongside them on stage to a powerful cover of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”

TheCelebrityCafe.com met up with him on the red carpet after his performance as he posed for pictures with his two children, eight-year-old Alabama and 10-year-old Landon.

The busy musician took some time to tell us what it was like for him early on as an aspiring drummer who grew into the world known celebrity that he is today.

When asked what advice he could give to young musicians who are trying to make it out in the industry today, he said, “Play with everybody.”

“I was like a drum whore, a drum escort, you know?” he said. “When I was 18 and I was a trash man in Laguna beach and I was living on my friends floor, I would just play with anybody and everybody and then I did touring and then actually getting paid to tour,” he continued. “It just keeps getting better.”

To future drummers out there, Travis says, “Don’t stop.”

“It’s gotta be grimy for a little bit, or at least it was for me it was grimy. Just do it ‘cus you love it.”

The modest +44 founder was sincere as he talked to the press and paparazzi saying, “I never expected any of this, ever.”
