Zachary Quinto reveals 'Star Trek 3' filming to begin in six months

"Spock himself revealed recently that filming on the third Star Trek will begin sometime in the next six months.

Zachary Quinto appeared on The Today Show and spoke about when work should begin on Star Trek 3, Variety reports.

""I think it's on the horizon,"" Quinto said. ""Things are rumbling, so I have a feeling that we will be in production sometime in the next six months.""

The actor previously has said that the plot of the third film is expected to focus on a five-year mission. ""I think the five-year mission will be a part of this next film in some way.""

There was some indication that there might be movement in the franchise earlier on Saturday when it was discovered that Roberto Orci, who helped co-write the first two Star Trek films had to drop out of the Power Rangers reboot as executive producer due to a scheduling conflict.
He is set to direct Star Trek 3, which is currently slated for a 2016 release.
