Giant Sorcerer Mickey hat at Disney's Hollywood Studios has cast its final spell

Disney's Hollywood Studios is removing the giant Sorcerer Mickey Mouse hat that has been the center point of the theme park for 13 years.

The 122 foot tall hat inspired by the hat worn by Mickey Mouse in Fantasia and also currently seen in Once Upon a Time made its appearance as the focal point of the park in 2001. Some people loved the new hat but others were left sour over the fact that the new hat blocked the park's previous focal point.

"There is a generation of people who think the hat's always been there," ThemeParkInsider.com publisher Robert Niles said to the Orlando Sentinel. "They don't remember looking down Hollywood Boulevard and seeing the Chinese Theatre."

The removal of the hat is part of the re-imagining of Disney's Hollywood Studios as it prepares for a complete makeover. There are many rumors that Disney's Hollywood Studios will soon be the home of a new Star Wars land considering that Disney President Bob Iger announced that the theme parks would be receiving a stronger Star Wars presence, Variety reported.

As far as exactly what comes next for Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests can only speculate.

"Work continues on bringing new experiences to life at Disney's Hollywood Studios and we look forward to sharing more information at a later date," Disney spokesman Bryan Malenius told the Orlando Business Journal.

Treasure the photographs you managed to snap in front of the sorcerer hat or take some new ones before it is removed in early 2015.
