Suge Knight, Katt Williams deny charges they stole woman’s camera

Music mogul Suge Knight and comedian Katt Williams are both denying claims that they stole a female paparazzo’s camera on Sept. 5. Meanwhile, Knight is still in a Las Vegas jail because of a traffic warrant.

As we reported earlier today, Knight was arrested in Vegas, while Williams was arrested at a Inglewood, California court, where he was being arraigned on an unrelated assault case.
Since both have criminal records, they could each face extended jail sentences if convicted. Knight’s sentence could be as much as 30 years to life, while Williams is facing up to seven years.

Both celebrities deny the charges. Williams told TMZ in Malibu after he was released on bail and said that they were trying to protect a five-year-old child you was in danger. The two saw the child alone in an alley and thought the photographer was doing something unethical.

Williams added that the woman said she would delete the video but then ran away, so they followed. Still, he insists that they did not take the camera.

Knight’s lawyer, Richard Schonfeld, sent a statement to the New York Daily News, calling the charges “absolutely unfounded.”

“I can tell you from the evidence I have seen, it doesn’t support the charge against Mr. Knight,” Schonfeld continued. “(The alleged victim) didn’t mention Suge Knight doing anything to her in her statement to the police.”

Schonfeld also noted that Knight was still recovering from being shot multiple times at a party two months before the alleged incident.

Knight is currently in a Clark County, Nevada jail, reports the Reno Gazette-Journal. He was ordered by a judge to pay a $190 fine for a June 2013 suspended license charge.
