Cows featured in 'Utopia' find new home at Farm Sanctuary

The Fox reality show Utopia may have been cancelled earlier this month, but we have already gotten news in an official statement that there is a happy ending for the cows who were featured on the show.

In one show, the cast was excited when a baby calf made its appearance in the world. The baby calf, who the cast named Ca$h, was the newest member born to cow Honey. In addition to Ca$h and Honey, another cow named Betsy was also on the show.

The cows had originally come from a dairy farm, where reportedly, baby calves don’t get to stay with their mothers after birth, due to milk being produced for us humans. After the show ended, producers were approached by the veterinarian for Utopia, Dr. Kerry Miliken, who works for the Veterinary Angels Medical Center.

Dr. Miliken asked the producers to send the cows to a facility known as Farm Sanctuary, which provides care to farm animals who are rescued and protected from abuse and unsafe living conditions.

In a statement, Susie Coston, who is the national shelter director for Farm Sanctuary, said, “We are thrilled to welcome these reality stars to Farm Sanctuary. Mama cows are so loving and protective of their babies. It’s a beautiful bond that lasts a lifetime when they actually get to stay together. We’re grateful to the Utopia producers for recognizing these animals as individuals with their own feelings and desires, and making sure that they get to enjoy a happy life together.”

Coston also revealed that the baby calf has a new name and it is Meredith.

When the Utopia was cancelled, the Halloween episode that aired before the decision was made to axe the show only raked in 1.56 million viewers. The show centered on putting people together in order to build a Utopian society.
