Mark Wahlberg says Michael Bay 'freaked out' even more than his wife over 60-pound weight loss for 'The Gambler'

Mark Wahlberg admitted his Transformers director, Michael Bay, was not happy with the actor losing so much weight for his role in The Gambler.

Wahlberg, now among the list of actors who have underwent dramatic weight loss for film roles, lost 60 pounds for the movie.

After finishing Transformers: Age of Extinction last year, he filmed The Gambler after losing the weight. When he was called into shoot more scenes for Transformers, Bay “freaked out,” Wahlberg said.

“He goes, 'You look like crap! What are you going to do? We've got to shoot in five weeks,'” Wahlberg said in an interview on Monday, The AP reports. "I probably put on 40 pounds back. But it still wasn't enough for him. He said, 'Aw, I've got to shoot you like this to make you look cool again.’”

"He's a perfectionist,” continued, adding Bay was even “more upset than” his wife, Rhea Durham.

“I mean, my wife was a little freaked out that I was losing this much weight, but he was really freaked out,” he explained.

LA Times reports The Gambler, also starring John Goodman, Brie Larson and Jessica Lange, premiered at the AFI Fest on Monday.
