People's Choice Awards nominees announced by 'Mom' stars Anna Faris and Allison Janney

The nominees for the People’s Choice Awards were announced on Tuesday by the show’s hosts Mom stars Allison Janney and Anna Faris along with other celebrities at the Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles.

In an almost 40 minutes presentation, Janney and Faris were joined by actors and actresses John Cho, Kathrine McPhee, Gina Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Bellamy Young, Cristin Milioti, Dylan McDermott and the award show’s president and executive producer Fred Nelson and Mark Burnett respectively.

After everyone was introduced, Nelson explained that the People’s Choice Awards is the only award show where the fans get to choose everything, including new categories. Those who voted added the categories favorite TV dramedy, favorite country group in music and the category favorite TV character we miss the most, which are characters that were killed off in their respective TV shows.

In the movie category, films such as 22 Jump Street, Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America: Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past and Maleficent made up the favorite film overall category. In the favorite action film category, Captain America, X-Men and Guardians were included along with Divergent and The Amazing Spider-Man 2. 22 Jump Street made the list of favorite comedic movie along with Blended, Let’s Be Cops, Neighbors, and The Other Woman.

Johnny Depp was not nominated this year to reclaim his title of last year’s favorite movie actor, with the crown up for grabs to Brad Pitt, Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Mark Wahlberg and Robert Downey Jr. Jackman and Wahlberg also make an appearance on the favorite action movie actor along with Chris Evans, Denzel Washington and Liam Neeson. Pitt and Downey also appear on the favorite dramatic film actor alongside Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Matt Damon. Making an appearance also on the favorite comedic film actor. Tatum competes with Jonah Hill, Seth Rogan, Zac Efron and last year’s recipient Adam Sandler.

Angelina Jolie, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Melissa McCarthy and Scarlett Johanson round out the favorite movie actress category. Jolie, Lawrence and Johanson also made the list for favorite action film actress along with Zoe Saldana and Shailene Woodley. Stone and Woodley also appear on the favorite dramatic actress list along with Chloë Grace Moretz, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon. McCarthy, who was nominated last year in the favorite comedic actress category, makes the list with Cameron Diaz, Charlize Theron, Drew Berrymore and Tina Fey.

Other categories included for awards are favorite film duo, favorite talk show hosts both day and nighttime, favorite television shows and characters through many genres and music artists and groups. The show’s entire nominee list can be viewed on the show’s website.

Voting for the award show can be done on the People’s Choice Awards website or the show’s official app for iPad and iPhone. Voting began on Tuesday and will last until Dec. 4.

The People’s Choice Awards premieres Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS, broadcasting live from the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
