Chris Pratt in talks for 'Magnificent Seven' remake with Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua

Chris Pratt could be joining yet another blockbuster. The Guardians of the Galaxy star is reportedly in very early talks to join MGM’s long-gestating Magnificent Seven remake.

News of the talks was first reported by Deadline. In addition, TheWrap reported that Pratt was talking with the studio.

MGM has been looking to remake the classic Western for some time now. The 1960 film, directed by John Sturges, starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen and Charles Bronson as a group of seasoned gunmen who help save a small town from bandits. It was a remake itself, based on Akira Kurosawa’s legendary Seven Samurai.

Back in 2012, a writer named Nic Pizzolatto, who we know now as the guy behind HBO’s True Detective, was hired for one draft. Later, Saving Mr. Banks’ John Lee Hancock was picked to do another draft.

Not only has the film seen different writers, but it’s also seen different stars. In May 2012, Tom Cruise was actually linked. He eventually left in December 2013 around the time that Hancock was hired.

Finally, in June 2014, Denzel Washington entered the picture. Antoine Fuqua, who directed Washington in Training Day and The Equalizer was hired to direct.

If Pratt does indeed join this film, it will be his latest major role. He starred in this summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy and headlines next summer’s Jurassic World. Since Parks and Recreation wraps up this winter, he’ll have plenty of time for more blockbusters.
