Ice Cube premieres first trailer for N.W.A. biopic 'Straight Outta Compton' during concert

Who better to premiere the new trailer for the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton than one of its founding members? During a show in Sydney, Australia, Ice Cube premiered the trailer for the upcoming summer 2015 film, and a video of it has now hit the web.

The trailer comes courtesy of Spin.com. Although the concert and trailer premiere was a few weeks back, the video has just recently begun circling the web. Although the audio and video are a tad rough, it gives a good enough idea of what fans can expect from this rags-to-riches music biography.

Cube produced the new movie alongside fellow N.W.A. member Dr. Dre. Directed by F. Gary Gray, who previously directed the Cube-vehicle Friday, Straight Outta Compton stars Paul Giamatti as Jerry Heller, while Aldis Hodge portrays MC Ren, Jason Mitchell embodies the late Eazy-E, Corey Hawkins plays Dre and Cube's own son O'Shea Jackson Jr. performs in the film as his father.

During production, Straight Outta Compton received some controversy for its casting call, but since then word on the new film has been quiet. The last time the '90s rap scene was brought to the screen was the fairly mediocre Biggie Smalls biopic Notorious in 2009. So hopefully Gray, Cube and the rest of the crew can put together a better product for this music scene.

Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on August 14, 2015. Check out the leaked trailer below:
