Idina Menzel says she really doesn't have inside information on 'Frozen' sequel

Idina Menzel drove the Internet crazy over the weekend with her comments on a potential Frozen sequel, but she said this morning that she doesn’t really know anything about a new movie about Anna and Elsa.

Last week, during an interview with The Telegraph, the “Let It Go” singer was asked about rumors that a full-length sequel to Frozen was in the works at Disney. She said that she wouldn’t take part in a stage show, “but the movie hopefully.”

Well, during an appearance on the Today Show this morning, she said she was just joking, reports The Hollywood Reporter. In fact, she’s just like all of us, who think Disney has to be making a sequel because the first movie was such a hit.

“You know, I have no idea — I just assumed that because it's so successful that's what they're up to!” she said.

Disney executives previously told THR that the studio isn’t working on a full sequel. However, they are making a short film that both Menzel and Kristin Bell are expected to participate in.

Menzel was on Today to perform a song from Holiday Wishes, her new Christmas album. She’s also going to be touring next year. So, just because there’s no Frozen sequel, that doesn’t mean she won’t be singing “Let It Go” again.

Frozen grossed $1.27 billion internationally and won Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Let It Go.”
