Samuel L. Jackson challenges celebrities to sing protest song calling out 'racist police'

Actor Samuel L. Jackson is hoping to start a new social media trend among the celebrity community by challenging anyone who did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to sing a protest song being sung at protests of recent deaths of unarmed black men around the country.

In a video posted on his Facebook page, he asked his fellow celebrities to sing the “We Ain’t Gonna Stop Till People Are Free” song.

“All you celebrities out there who poured ice water on your head, here's a chance to do something else," Jackson said, referencing the Ice Bucket Challenge many celebritites did over the summer to raise money for charity. "I challenge all of you to sing the ‘We Ain't Gonna Stop Till People are Free’ song."

As E! News points out, protesters began singing the song in New York City earlier this month, after a grand jury decided not to indict Eric Garner, who was put in a chokehold by a police officer and died. Other protesters have begun singing it as well.

In the video, Jackson sings the song, then urges others to “Sing it out.” He added, “Seeking more singers!!” in a caption.

Jackson was also angered by the Michael Brown decision in Missouri, tweeting on Nov. 25:

Jackson’s Facebook video has been shared over 58,000 times since it was posted on Saturday.
