Scottish Ebola patient moved to London, two others tested for disease

A Scottish healthcare worker, who contracted Ebola while in Sierra Leone, was moved to a treatment center in London on Tuesday.

BBC News reported that Pauline Cafferkey was transported to the Royal Free Hospital. The facility is the same one that British nurse William Pooley was successfully treated at earlier this year.

The New York Times noted that officials said two people are being tested for the virus and they are trying to track down others who were on the same flight as Cafferkey. However, public health officials have stressed that the risk to others is extremely low being that the patient was diagnosed in the very early stages of the disease.

Cafferkey was part of a volunteer group that had been working in West Africa since November and returned to the United Kingdom on Sunday. She is currently listed in stable condition.

Ebola has plagued the countries of Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia since the outbreak began several months ago. So far, around 20,000 cases have been reported and more than 7,500 people have died.
