Khan Bonfils, actor in 'Star Wars' and 'Skyfall,' dies at 42

Khan Bonfils, an actor who appeared in the first Star Wars prequel and Skyfall, died Tuesday in a theater accident. He was only 42 years old.

The actor was rehearsing for a production of Dante’s Inferno, which was set to open at an east London theater next week. According to the Telegraph, Bonfils collapsed and members of the Craft Theatre company rushed to help save him. However, paramedics were unable to.

“Kan collapsed during a rehearsal and the director Rocky Rodriguez Jr performed CPR on location,” company spokesman Chris Hislop said. “An ambulance was called out but unfortunately he couldn't be resuscitated.'”

Hislop added that the entire production has been left devastated by his death.

“The entire company are in shock. There is absolutely severe sadness, it is a real tragedy. I think they are holding it together by talking it through and by being there for each other,” Hislop said.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Bonfils is known for playing Jedi Master Saesee Tiin in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. He also appeared in 2012’s Skyfall. Other film credits include Batman Begins, Tomorrow Never dies and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life.

“We’ve been through a bit of a trauma, it’s all very difficult to stomach,” theater director Rocky Rodriguez Jr wrote on Craft Theatre’s website. “The only thing we know how to do is continue to do what we do. We need to finish the journey that Khan was on.”
