President Obama hosting a screening of 'Selma' at the White House

Despite getting snubbed by the Academy, Selma will be celebrated at the White House on Friday night. President Obama will host a screening of the film, where he will meet the cast and crew of the film.

Many were outraged early Thursday morning when the film’s star, David Oyelowo, failed to get a Best Actor nomination and its director, Ava DuVernay, failed to get recognized for her efforts.

Nonetheless, they will all be welcomed by the President at the White House, which was announced the same day the Oscar nominations were revealed, Daily News reports.

Selma did snag two nominations - Best Picture and Original Song for “Glory.”

Variety reports it’s up to President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama if they want to divulge which films they will be screening, as the theater is considered part of their private living area.

In the past, they've screened Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, Monuments Men and Beasts of the Southern Wild.
