Savannah Guthrie to interview President Obama for NBC's Super Bowl XLIX pre-game coverage

In what is becoming a tradition, President Barack Obama will be interviewed before Super Bowl XLIX. NBC News will have Today Show anchor Savannah Guthrie talk with Obama before the big game on Sunday.

NBC said that Guthrie will sit down with the Sports Fan in Chief for a pre-taped interview first, then will also talk with him live from the White House on Sunday.

Guthrie and Al Roker will both be sent to Phoenix to anchor Today on Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31. NBC Sports will start its pre-game coverage on Sunday at 12 p.m.

Obama was interviewed before last year’s Super Bowl as well. Fox provided viewers with an entertaining exchange between Obama and Bill O’Reilly.

Considering that the Super Bowl will be on CBS next year, it wouldn’t be surprising if CBS News interviews Obama next year as well, especially since it will be his last Super Bowl while in office.

Super Bowl XLIX will be between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
