'The Fault in Our Stars' lead Ansel Elgort circles Edgar Wright's 'Baby Driver'

Edgar Wright may have washed his hands clean of Marvel's Ant-Man, but that's not stopping him from making other features. In fact, he's got his latest in-the-works Baby Driver, and appears to have courted Ansel Elgort (The Fault in Our Stars) to play the titular character.

The Tracking Board got the scoop on the casting. Elgort will play Baby, a baby-faced, music-loving and quiet young man who finds himself on the run when things go sour for a rotating group of bank robbers he transports. The trade also reports Emma Stone is the top choice to play Baby's love interest, while Michael Douglas — once set to be directed by Wright in the aforementioned Ant-Man — is being sought for Baby's mentor.

Additionally, Variety reports Sony is closing a deal with Working Title Films and Media Rights Captial to distribute the new action-comedy, through their banner TriStar. Tom Rothman of TriStar has a long standing work relationship with Wright and apparently fought hard to land the movie.

Elgort is in early stages of talks, but it looks as though things will come together soon. Also reportedly trying to get their foot in the door for the lead part were Logan Lerman and Star Wars: The Force Awakens' John Boyega, who previously worked on the Wright-produced Attack the Block.

Baby Driver, also written by Wright, has no set production start. Elgort, recently seen in Divergent and Men, Women and Children in addition to this past summer's Fault, has The Divergent Series: Insurgent coming into theaters on March 20 and is soon going to star alongside Chloë Grace Moretz in November Criminals.
