Werner Herzog's 'Queen of the Desert' and more join this year's Berlin International Film Festival

Last year, Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel became the most esteemed movie to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival. Now, it appears we've found (possibly) what will be this year's film of choice. For Werner Herzog's Queen of the Desert, starring Nicole Kidman, is among the new movies making its premiere from February 5-15.

The line-up comes from the festival's press release, found on The Playlist. Also among the most anticipated premieres at the 65th anniversary of this festival are Mr. Holmes, starring Ian McKellen and Diary of a Chambermaid, starring Spectre star Lea Seydoux. A full list can be found at the link.

Queen of the Desert, also starring James Franco, Robert Pattinson and Damien Lewis, was expected to be a heavy contender in the fall film festival circuit, notably at TIFF. Post-production touch-ups kept it from being in the race, however. A biopic of Gertrude Bell, it was also expected to be a possible awards contender, but based on the response to The Grand Budapest Hotel this year, don't rule it out of the running for next year.

In addition to his work behind-the-camera being noticed this winter, Herzog is also going to be making a guest appearance in front of it during this new season of Parks and Recreation.
