Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter surprise everyone with Valentine's Day wedding

Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter surprised everyone when their Valentine’s Day wedding was announced. The couple have been engaged for three months and at first, wedding plans seemed to be going slowly.

According to People, back in January, the Sherlock actor told reporters that wedding plans were moving slow, saying “one thing at a time.” Their wedding reportedly took place in England on the Isle of Wight.

Their wedding reception was held a Mottistone Manor, which has deep ties to Hunter’s familial history. Locals on the Isle knew of rumors that there was a celebrity on the way, especially to Mottistone when a paper announced a road, which was near the outside of the church, would be closed and marquees were seen being put up at the manor.

A source told people, “The whole thing has been kept very quiet, but there have been deliveries coming and going.”

The wedding was so secret, people involved in the planning were unaware the wedding was for Cumberbatch, who apparently had been in Cowes at the Royal Yacht Squadron.

According to the Associated Press, Karon Maskill, who is a spokeswoman for the actor, confirmed the news on Sunday and she described the wedding as being a “magical day.”

The couple has starred together in the film Burlesque Fairytales, which came out in 2009.
