Broad Green buys 'Knights Of Cups' and Terrence Malick's next film

Terrence Malick, a filmmaker one can never ultimately guess what he'll work on next, has just premiered his latest, Knights Of Cups at the Berlin International Film Festival. The very same day, new company Broad Green Pictures snatched the film rights up, and also got distribution rights to his next, untitled feature.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the update to Malick's latest films, which ventures up to a $6.5 million pact deal. This comes after Knights Of Cups played for buyers and press earlier today. Brokering the deal was CAA and WME Global, with Nicolas Gonda, Sarah Green and Ken Kao credited as producers on both films.

This is just the second deal Broad Green has done with Malick, as they also came together to give the filmmaker's feature Voyage of Time its final finances so that he can finish it. Two versions of the film are in the works, one being a 45-minute IMAX version narrated by his Tree of Life star Brad Pitt and another, a 35mm feature-length version narrated by Cate Blanchett, who also stars in Malick's two upcoming films. Voyage of Time is a project Malick has been making for the past three decades.

In addition to Blanchett, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and Benicio Del Toro also star in both Malick films. Nothing is none about the untitled second feature, but Knights of Cup centers on a Hollywood screenwriter (Bale) who is trapped to his addictions to success and illusions.

This is just another film festival of late where Broad Green finds themselves snatching up high-profile indies. At Sundance, Broad Green picked up A Walk in the Woods, starring Nick Nolte and Sundance founder Robert Redford two weeks ago as The Hollywood Reporter also covered. They also picked up the Andrew Garfield/Michael Shannon-starring 99 Homes at the Toronto International Film Festival last year.

There's no clear idea when Broad Green plans to come to theaters, but The Playlist reports StudioCanal eyes an April 10 release in the U.K. One would assume the U.S. release would not be far behind.
