'Hot mugshot' felon Jeremy Meeks gets two years in prison

Jeremy Meeks, who became a viral sensation last summer thanks to his “hot” mugshot, was sentenced to over two years in prison on Thursday.

The U.S. attorney’s office said that the 30-year-old Stockton, California felon was sentenced to 27 months in prison for gun possession, according to KXTV. He was previously convicted on grand theft.

Back in June, Meeks’ mugshot went viral after it was posted on Facebook by the Stockton Police Department. Even though he was already a convicted felon, he got Hollywood talent agent Gina Rodriguez.

According to Reuters, it is not known if she is still working with him to find potential modeling or reality show deals. Rodriguez did not return requests for a comment.

Meeks told KXTV last year that he was a gang member, but had changed his life. He was also unaware of his Internet fame until a reporter told him about it.

“I appreciate that (popularity) but I just really want them to know that this is really not me, I'm not some kingpin,” Meeks said at the time.
