'How to Get Away with Murder' Recap: 'She's a Murderer'

On this week's episode of How to Get Away with Murder, the police continue to circle the Keating house in an effort to learn more about Sam's death, Sam's sister, Hannah continues to remain suspicious of Annalise, and a suspect in arrested in connection with Sam's murder.

The episode opens with Connor, Wes, Michaela, and Rebecca watching the news broadcast revealing Sam's body has been found. They panic and bicker, thinking that the police are targeting them. When Laurel finally arrives a few moments later, she informs them that Frank told her they're being watched, so they need to be careful. The group cannot call either Annalise or Frank for further assistance in case they must hand over their phone records during the investigation.

Soon, the police show up to the Keating house, notifying Annalise and Sam's sister, Hannah that Sam's body was discovered inside a dumpster. Hannah breaks down, incriminating Annalise. Frank returns to the Keating house during the exchange, but keeps his instance.

On her way to class, Annalise talks to Nate and instructs him not to talk to the police. A cop approaches her, trying to dig for answers, though Annalise brushes her off. A sub manages Annalise's class until she arrives. Once settled into class, Annalise lectures her students on fifth amendment rights and how police interrogations are purposely misconstrued to aid the prosecution.

Frank and Bonnie meet up and Bonnie is a mess because of Annalise's poor reaction to learning about a kiss she shared with Sam. Frank tells her to pull herself together because Sam screwed over both of them and Bonnie will be fired if Annalise sees her so upset. Later, Bonnie informs Annalise about a recent development in a new case she's working on.

When Annalise meets with her client, a mafioso accused of illegally smuggling drugs, he expresses his worries about how Sam's murder investigation will affect his accessibility to Annalise and how she can win his case if she's in jail.

Meanwhile, Sam's sister, Hannah makes trouble for Annalise with the cops by telling them Annalise knew about Sam and Lila's affair prior to Sam's death. Hannah orders the police to search the Keating house and says she is willing to testify in court after catching a glimpse of pictures of Sam's charred remains hanging on the bulletin board of an interrogation room.

Annalise's students help her with her new case while simultaneously handling their guilt. Michaela frets over the cops tracing her missing engagement ring back to the group, but also fears being arrested should she go back into the woods to retrieve it. At the same time, Wes questions what happened to Rudy, the strange former tenant of his apartment, leading to friction between himself and Laurel.

Later, when Annalise meets with her client a second time to discuss notes on their case, he says she doesn't seem too upset about Sam's untimely death. When Wes returns home, he continues to dig for answers regarding Rudy and questions his building's superintendent, who tells him to go to Rebecca for more information.
As suggested, Wes talks to Rebecca, and things don't go over well. Rebecca thinks Wes is freaking out and offers to take the blame.

Meanwhile, Annalise continues to encounter suspicion while working on her case and her students worry when Bonnie reveals that Hannah made a statement causing the police to issue a search warrant for the Keating house. Simultaneously, Asher and Bonnie are still at odds over their relationship, despite having to try to convince a judge to reverse the grounds for the search warrant in court.

In court, Hannah testifies, placing the blame on Annalise and citing previous fights between her and Sam as evidence. Her testimony proves convincing as the judge does not agree to reverse the search warrant and Asher and Bonnie lose the case. With the search allowed to proceed, Annalise's students watch as the police survey the Keating house. Hannah returns from court and remarks how the group's loyalty to Annalise will ultimately bring them down. Annalise emerges from her home and catches onto Hannah's implication, leading them to argue. While the search is taking place, Bonnie apologizes for not being able to win in court and block the warrant. She, Frank, and Annalise watch as the police swab down the house for evidence. Annalise's students remain outside on stand by with a burner phone Laurel uses to communicate with Frank. Eventually, Frank pages Laurel to let the group know that the search has turned up no results.

Following the search, Frank and Bonnie discuss the results of Sam's autopsy. The coroner's report indicates he died of blunt force trauma to the head and the weapon was likely a heavy metal object. In addition, traces of carpet fibers and foliage were found on his body, which means the police will be searching the woods next. Meanwhile, Connor says that the group dodged a bullet with the search. The rest of the group tries to shut down the conversation, as they are still working on Annalise's current case, but Connor won't relent and is overheard by Annalise. She calls him into her office and Connor expresses his fears about being protected, to which Annalise tells him that he has no other option to trust her and stick by her. While Annalise and Connor chat, the others find a new lead in the case.

Later, Nate calls Annalise to let her know that he's been assigned to Sam's case. Annalise worries if Nate thinks she's guilty of murdering Sam.

Annalise and her students are in court. The stress of Sam's murder investigation coupled with the work on her client's case causes Annalise to speak out of line.

Meanwhile, Laurel frets over her and the others' involvement in Sam's case and breaks down in front of Frank.

Annalise watches a news report on Sam's murder investigation. Bonnie suddenly intrudes, letting Annalise know that she's on to her. When Annalise is alone again, she makes a call, urgently telling someone she needs them.

The next day the police arrive at the Keating house saying they've found evidence in the woods and demand that Annalise stop avoiding them. She complies, undergoing an interrogation.

Meanwhile, Annalise's students plus Rebecca gather and Rebecca tells them that a ring was found in the woods. Michaela panics, thinking it's her engagement ring, but it's really Sam's wedding band. The scene cuts backs and forth between Annalise and her students and during Annalise's interrogation, the police say that fingerprints were found on the ring. Flashbacks that appear a moment later show Frank creating false evidence at Annalise's request. When the scene returns to the present, the police say the fingerprints belong to Annalise's lover, Nate and he's arrested several minutes later. At the same time, Annalise's students and Rebecca watch broadcasts of Nate's arrest on television, realizing the extreme lengths Annalise has taken to keep them safe.

When Annalise has finished her interrogation and returns home, she calls her mother.
