Jackie Chan's son Jaycee released from prison in China

Jackie Chan’s son, Jaycee Chan, has completed his six-month jail sentence in China on drug-related charges.

Jaycee was arrested in August 2014 when police found marijuana in his Beijing apartment. Taiwan movie star Ko Chen-tung was also arrested at the time and the two tested positive for marijuana use. Jaycee was charged with providing a venue for others to buy drugs.

In January, Jaycee, 32, was sentenced to six months in prison. However, on Friday morning he was released, as the court decided to count the time he has spent in jail since his arrest.

CNN reports that Jaycee’s management company, Mstones, said that he will hold a press conference tomorrow to apologize in public and offer a “full explanation” of his behavior.

Since his son’s arrest, Chan, who starred in Rush Hour and other Hollywood hits, expressed disappointment in his son’s behavior. It was embarrassing for him, as he has been an international anti-drug ambassador since 2009.

“Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken,” Chan wrote in a blog post in August.
