Ron Howard's 'Inferno' with Tom Hanks, Felicity Jones sets up supporting cast

While Ron Howard hasn’t visited the world of Robert Langdon since 2009, he is still pressing on with a third Dan Brown adaptation. The new film, based on Inferno, will again star Tom Hanks as Langdon and now we know who his co-stars will be.

Aside from the previously cast Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Howard and producing partner Brian Grazer announced the supporting cast today. According to TheWrap, the three new actors to join are Omar Sy, Irrfan Khan and Sidse Babett Knudsen.

Sy is best known to U.S. audiences for his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past. He also starred in the French hit Intouchables. He will also be seen in .

Khan is an Indian star best known for starring in Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. Knudsen is a Danish actress who starred in the Oscar-nominated After the Wedding and Borgen.

Deadline reports that the film will start production in April in Italy. The script was written by David Koepp.

Although Inferno is the fourth book in Brown’s Langdon series, it is only the third movie in the franchise. Howard turned The Da Vinci Code into an international hit in 2006 and also directed 2009’s Angels & Demons. Brown’s third book in the series is The Lost Symbol.

Both films, released by Sony, grossed a combined $1.2 billion worldwide.

Howard’s next film, In The Heart of the Sea, opens on Dec. 11.
