‘The Americans’ Recap: Open House

The stakes are getting higher for both Elizabeth and Philip. The two disagree over their daughter’s future but hopefully it doesn’t tear them apart. They also have KGB problems and the FBI are on their tail.

Gabriel and Philip are playing scrabble when Gabriel hands him the pictures of the CIA Afghan group. Philip recent took pictures of a meeting they had and Gabriel has looked up the names. Gabriel warns Philip that going after these men will be dangerous.
Elizabeth is training another spy named Hans how to check his surroundings. Their conversation changes when Elizabeth believes he’s checking her out.
Paige’s birthday is coming up and Elizabeth wants to buy her a necklace but Philip seems bitter. Elizabeth discusses with Philip how Hans was hitting on her but Philip was still nasty. He is upset about Elizabeth talking to Gabriel about him.
Elizabeth and Philip are in disguise while checking out a house for sale. Philip is digging around the top floor while Elizabeth distracts the realtor. Elizabeth is talking to her when the owner walks into the room Philip is in. The owner complains about the house and his life while he takes the radio Philip bugged.
Oleg is trying to get back to work and is given papers allowing him to go back to Moscow. Oleg’s father was able to get him the transfer. However, Oleg doesn’t make his decision yet.
Elizabeth and Philip are in their car listening in to the guy they bugged. Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Philip are being fallowed. Elizabeth notices their new friend and the couple decide how to lose them. It’s now nightfall when Philip bails from the car to help lose the FBI.
Paige is at home taking cloths out of Henry’s room when she finds a picture of a half-naked Ms. Beaman. Philip returns to see Paige is still awake. Philip talks to her about how hard her life must be without him and their mom not being in the picture. Paige reinsures him she is fine and leaves the room.
The new agent convinces the FBI to put up a road block to stop Elizabeth’s car. She still has FBI on her as she continues to drive around town. The FBI’s radio goes out and they are left in the dark. An accident happens and Elizabeth leaves the car.
Philip is still awake when Elizabeth finally makes it back. She’s upset and Philip embraces her in a hug. When they go to kiss, Elizabeth feels pain in her mouth. They head to the basement where Philip goes to remove her teeth since she refuses to see the dentist. The two don’t say a word but speak with their eyes.
Stan is disappointed that their target yet again got away. The new agent offers to take Stan out for a beer. Stan goes off to take care of the woman he’s protecting.
Philip is undercover over at Martha’s. She talks about a phone call she had with a friend of hers. Apparently, this friend is looking for homes to take in foster kids. Philip gets defensive saying he doesn’t want kids. Martha tries to talk him into and Philip responses with a kiss.
Elizabeth is back with Hans testing him some more about spying. Hans apologizes for saying what he did to Elizabeth. Elizabeth’s informs him that she is with someone important to her and she doesn’t want to ruin that. Hans understands.
Philip talks to Gabriel about the man they are following. Gabriel is against them going back out after what happened with Elizabeth. Philip tells him about his fears with Paige joining them how anything can go wrong and she can be hurt. Philip doesn’t think she can ever handle it and leaves in a fit.
Oleg finds out the American’s are making a bomber plane. He then decides that he is going to stay instead of going to Moscow. That means leaving Nina behind.
Philip and Elizabeth are in their car when Philip asks her about Paige. They pick up their radio. They go to pick up photos even though Philip believes it might be dangerous. Philip finds the head of the CIA Afghan group while snapping photos.
Did Oleg make the right choice not going back to Moscow? Will Philip and Elizabeth stay this close? Will Stan ever catch his KGB neighbors? Catch “The Americans” on Wednesday nights on FX.
