Disney Channel is making a Mo'ne Davis biopic

Little League sensation Mo'ne Davis will be the subject of an upcoming Disney Channel original movie.

USA Today reports that Disney Channel announced that it is developing a made-for-tv biopic called Throw Like Mo about the 13-year-old pitcher. Naketha Mattocks, the vice president of original movies for Disney Channel, told Variety that Davis was chosen because of her athletic ability and to serve as an example to audiences about the lessons of hard work and believing in oneself.

Davis made history when she led the Taney Dragons from Philadelphia to the Little League World Series and became the first girl to pitch a shutout in the event. Davis also became the first Little League player to make the cover of Sports Illustrated. When asked about her rise to fame, Davis said she didn't expect to be in the position she's in but is excited to inspire others.

“A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me," she said. "I can’t wait to get started, and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true.”

Davis will serve as a consultant for the movie which currently has no premiere date.
