Eddie Murphy in talks to join Lee Daniels' Richard Pryor biopic, Kate Hudson also stars

Richard Pryor's undoubtedly one of the most inspirational comedians of all time. And now, one of his most popular influences helps transition his life story to the big screen. Eddie Murphy is in talks to join Lee Daniels' (Precious) upcoming Pryor biopic.

Granted, Murphy doesn't play Pryor. That job already went to comedic actor Mike Epps, who was cast this past August. Murphy, however, would embody LeRoy "Buck Carter" Pryor, Richard's father and former boxer, as E! Online revealed.

While Murphy or his representatives haven't announced if this casting has validity, Daniels seemed to confirm this news on his Instagram when he posted a picture of him with Murphy together yesterday. His picture was followed by the comment, "Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages!"

This would not be the first time Murphy was attached to a Pryor film, as he was once to star in to a Bill Condon-directed film about the comedian. That project never came together, of course. Murphy was also rumored to play the lead role of this film in January 2014. Additionally, Epps was to perform as Pryor before this in a Nina Simone biopic starring Zoe Saldana in 2012.

In addition to Murphy's news, E! confirms Kate Hudson is cast as Jennifer Pryor, Richard's widow and a producer on this film. Also to star in the film is Oprah Winfrey as Pryor's grandmother Marie Carter. She also is a producer on Daniels' feature.

Backed by the Weinstein Company, this new movie gears to get in front of cameras after years of a Pryor biopic in development hell. Daniels joined in January 2014. Production begins soon, with speculation saying it stars this summer.

Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthisone! #excited #proud #OMG
