Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox to star in 'The Autopsy of Jane Doe'

Judging by the title of his next film, Emile Hirsch should brace himself for the grim. The actor will star in the The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

According to Deadline, Brian Cox will also star in the film, and he will play the father of Emile Hirsch’s character. Both coroners, the two receive a homicide victim whose cause of death is unknown. Naturally, this leads to a series of mysterious clues that reveal dark secrets.

Andre Øvredal will direct the film from Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing’s Black List script. This is Øvredal’s first English-language feature. The Norwegian director sparked a lot of buzz with his inventive, tense film Trollhunter, a mockumentary about a government employee who hunts the fictional beasts of the title.

There has also been buzz surrounding Emile Hirsch, but not the good kind. The actor was charged with assault on Feb. 12 after putting Insurge Pictures executive Danielle Benfeld in a chokehold. The actor was not arrested, but his court date is on March 16. Since being charged, Variety reported that Hirsch checked into a rehab facility.
